What does a drag link do?
A steering drag link is part of the steering system which converts the rotary motion of a crank or steering box to a second crank or link. Converting the motion of the steering box into the linear motion required to pull the tie rods, enables the vehicle's wheels to be turned.
Why is it called a drag link?

While the origin of the term is not clear, it pre-dates the automobile, and is described as in use in 1849 as a means of rotating a Ducie cultivator being operated by cable by stationary steam engine (or between engines).
